Obituary for Dottie Lewis
Dottie Lewis, 76, of De Soto, KS passed away Dec. 27th, 2013. Services will be held at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto, KS, on Saturday, January 4th, 2014. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with memorial service commencing at 2:00. Flowers may be sent to Cedar Crest, and memorial donations may be made to De Soto Baptist Church. Dottie never gave up the fight against cancer once diagnosed with lymphoma this past June, 2013. She was always brave, never complained, and committed to "fight until she can't." She struggled silently through the pain of aggressive chemotherapy and recovery and never stopped believing she would win the fight, always remaining optimistic. She passed away early morning December 27th, her body no longer able to overcome the ravages of chemotherapy. Dottie was born in Monett, MO, on April 9, 1937, and was raised in Pierce City, MO, on a farm with her 8 siblings and was an honor student at St. Mary's Catholic School. At the age of 18, she moved to Kansas City and worked for Sunshine Biscuit, lived briefly in Colorado, and later returned to Kansas and built a home in De Soto, and retired after 17 years at Deluxe Check Printing. She lived to raise her children and grandchildren, loved the outdoors, and never met a project that she couldn't conquer. She loved to dance, was feisty and quick, and had a fun and silly sense of humor that would make anyone smile. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Nora Eimer, her daughter Bonnie Klimeczek, and siblings Marie, Raymond, Lawrence, and William Eimer. She is survived by her husband Lyle, and three children: Rick Lewis with wife Susan of Edwardsville, KS, John Lewis of Leavenworth, KS, and Danielle Schler (Tyler Bunce) of Linwood, KS; as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
