Obituary for Barbara K. Dickerson
Barbara K. Dickerson, of Parsons/Oswego formally of De Soto, KS passed away at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO on September 2, 2019. Graveside services will be held on September 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at De Soto Cemetery, 34500 W. 87th St., De Soto, KS. Arr. by Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel 913-583-1002.
Barbara was born February 21, 1941 to William and Jessie (Burrows) Haraughty in Oswego, KS. She married Eugene Dickerson July 6, 1963. She proudly graduated from De Soto High School. She worked in food services in De Soto and for many years she worked for Service Valley School District in Labette County, KS .
She enjoyed baking wedding cakes and many other types of cakes. She made world renown cinnamon rolls. She worked as a florist in De Soto and in Parsons. The beach was her thing, she enjoyed walking the beaches any chance she got, picking up sand dollars and the perfect shells. She always had a smile and the best ear for listening. She was such a kind hearted and awesome soul to all she knew. Best friend when you needed one. Barbara always went out of her way to help and donated her time for all in need. Barbara was a long time resident of Oswego, KS.
She was a loving and special daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma and great grandmother. She was also a special friend to many.
Preceded in death by: husband Gene; granddaughter Robin Reed; her parents William and Jessie Haraughty; sisters infant Shirley Haraughty and Donna Gavin; brother-in-law Stan; brother Mitch Haraughty; niece Heather Haraughty.
Survivors include: daughter Cinda Reed of De Soto, KS; son John (Glenna) Dickerson of Peculiar, MO; grandchildren Rebeka Dickerson of MO., William Dickerson of US Marines and Nicole (Corey) Hurst of TN; great grandson Alex; foster great grandchildren Jaylei, Shayla, Chance and Timmy; brothers Leonard (Christy) Haraughty of Oswego, KS, Pat Haraughty of McCune, KS and Rex (Tammy) Haraughty of Oswego, KS; special sister in law Vicki Haraughty of Altamont, KS; special son-in-law Phil Reed of KS.
