Alyce V. King, 83, of De Soto, KS passed away peacefully at Hillside Village of De Soto on May 10, 2019.

Mass of Christian burial will be on May 20, 2019 at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 820 Birch St., Eudora, KS with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on May 19, 2019, from 6-8:00PM with Rosary at 8:00PM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave, De Soto, KS. Graveside at Holy Family Cemetery, Eudora, KS.

Alyce Victoreen Studer was born on July 15, 1935 in Sabetha, KS and grew up on the family farm south of Fairview, KS. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1953 and married Thomas G. King on May 12, 1956. They settled in DeSoto, KS in 1959. Alyce’s primary job was a housewife & mother. She was also a cook at DeSoto Junior High from 1972 until 1995 when she moved to be Head Cook at DeSoto High School in 1996 until she retired in 2000. She truly loved working at the schools. Alyce was a cub scout leader, Boy Scout mom, baseball mom, band mom, basketball mom, football mom, wrestling mom, neighborhood mom and countless other ‘moms’ when needed. She enjoyed senior citizen card games and casinos. She was known for her faith, her smile, her infectious laughing and maybe talking a little. There are endless stories of how Alyce helped someone with advice, kindness or just encouraging words.

She is preceded in death by: her husband Tom, parents Henry and Eva (Rooney) Studer Sr., brother Henry Jr., sister Eileen, and daughter-in-law Lisa King.

Survivors include: sons Ron King of Lawrence, KS, Mike King of Omaha, NE, Darrell (Brenda) King of De Soto, KS, Ken (Linda) King of Olathe, KS and Gene (Sara) King of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren Laura and Garry Blackstock, Bradley and Stephanie King, Ryan and Laura King, Kyle King, Riley King (Malinda), Sydney King, Madison King, Ava King and Hayden King; great grandchildren Jasmine and Nico Blackstock, Bentley and Sawyer King and Lilly Alyce King; sister Kathy Haag of Hiawatha, KS; brother Ray Studer of Hiawatha, KS; sister-in-laws Sharon Studer of Sabetha, KS and Pat Knight of Lebo, KS.
