Obituary for Mark James Pettigrew
Mark James Pettigrew 62 years old, living in De Soto, Kansas, passed away Friday morning October 20, 2017 in his home in Desoto, Kansas. Mark had many hobbies and passions in his life, including his family and friends, gun collecting and shooting, motorcycle rides, and the Marine Corps.
Mark was born September 30, 1955 in Beaumont, Texas and grew up in Mont Belvieu, Texas. He graduated from Barbers Hill High school and was accepted to Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. Mark joined the Corps of Cadets at A&M where he became interested in serving in the military. Mark joined the Marine Corps after graduating from A&M where he served as a Reconnaissance Intercept Officer (RIO) flying Phantom F4 jets stationed in California and Hawaii. After serving 10 years in the Marine Corps, Mark left the military and went to work for Huhtamaki in De Soto, Kansas for 25 years.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Wilmer Pettigrew and brother Tim Pettigrew. He is survived by his wife Beverlyn Pettigrew of De Soto, KS and his brother Scott Pettigrew of Pasadena, Texas.
In memory and honor of Mark, family and friends are invited to a Memorial visitation at 1:00 pm, Saturday October 28, 2017 at the Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave, De Soto, KS 66018, and a Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday October 28, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, donations for cancer research is encouraged.
