Obituary for Virginia "Gina" H. Sims
Virginia "Gina" H. Sims, 89, of De Soto, KS passed away on May 21, 2021. Funeral services will be held at the Eudora First Southern Baptist Church, 525 W. 20th Street, Eudora, KS 66025 on Thursday, May 27th. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with a service starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the DeSoto Silent City Cemetery, 33435 W. 84th St., DeSoto, KS 66018.

Virginia was born September 27, 1931 in Martinsville, MO to Stanley & Jewell (Tilley) Smith. Virginia was married to Kenneth Sims on April 27, 1951 and they have two sons, Ken and Tony. Virginia worked as a telephone operator in the early 50’s, then worked as a secretary for the DeSoto School district for 27 years.
She was a long-time member of the Eudora First Southern Baptist Church where she started teaching Sunday School in 1956. She continued to teach her class until 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth of 64 years, her mother & father, Stanley & Jewell Smith and her sister-in-law Willa Smith.
She is survived by her two sons, Ken (Connie) of Lenexa, KS and Tony (Trish) of Grass Valley, CA; grandsons Josh (Emily) of Houston, TX and Kyle (Amber) of Shawnee, KS; 3 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Garrett & Parker; she also leaves behind her beloved brother Roger Smith.
