Steven was born June 23, 1953 in Ft. Bragg, NC to Eugene (Gene) and JoEtta Gower. When Steve was younger he enjoyed the relationships with his friends in De Soto and driving his 1972 Mach 1 Mustang, which the local speed traps knew well. He was a 1971 graduate of De Soto High School and a very good athlete for the high school team. He was known in the community to have the best curveball in town. Steve had a passion for the Kansas Jayhawks and raised his family to also do the same. He spent many years going to Jayhawk games with his two boys. But that passion was even deeper when it came to the love he had for his family. Steve was always at his boys sporting and scouting events teaching them how to be men of honor, integrity, respect, and humility. As his family grew he loved beyond words spending time with his grandkids. Whether it was taking them to a park to feed ducks, or pulling them in a wagon Steve had a smile on his face anytime he was around his grand babies. Steve worked at Walgreens Pharmacy and enjoyed the relationships with his coworkers and his customers. Steve spent his entire life connecting with people so deeply that he impacted peoples lives. There truly was nothing he wouldn’t do for another person in need.
Preceded in death by: father Eugene Gower and sister-in-law Mona Gower.
Survivors include: sons Matthew (Melisa) Gower of Olathe, KS and Daniel (Laura) Gower of Gilbert, AZ; mother JoEtta Gower of De Soto, KS; sister Connie (Mel) Chesbro of St. John, KS; brother Dennis Gower of De Soto, KS and 4 grandchildren Savannah, Anthony, Beckham and Ari.
