Stephen W. Newport, 54, of De Soto, KS passed March 9, 2015. Memorial services will be held March 14, 2015 at 11:00AM with visitation from 10-11:00AM at Cedar Crest Memorial 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. Memorial Contributions: Cedar Crest Memorial Box 101, De Soto, KS 66018. Steve was born July 15, 1960 in Lawrence KS. He graduated from De Soto High School in 1978. He worked at Blue Hills Country Club for many years. He enjoyed model building, cars, trains and carnival rides. Steve was a big KU fan, season ticket holder of KC Blades hockey and a avid T-Bone fan. Steve enjoyed fishing with his Dad and cooking outside for his mother. He was an amateur meteorologist. Steve was a loving son, brother and uncle. Preceded in death by: maternal grandparents Manly and Elva Mitchell and paternal grandparents John Newport and Mamie Clark. Survivors include: parents Carroll (Tip) and Carole Newport of De Soto, KS; sisters Teresa (Orval) Doty of Blue Mound, KS, Nancy (Dusk) Vasquez of Pomona, KS, Peggy (Bob) Burns of Shawnee, KS ; brother Hank (Jodi) Newport of De Soto, KS; nieces Amy, Laura and Sara; nephew William; 6 great nieces and nephews.
