Robert (Bob) W. Garrett age 81 of De Soto, KS passed away on January 1, 2025, at Hospice
House Kansas City, MO, after a long battle with cancer.
Bob's Celebration of Life will be held Friday January 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM Reach Church

Robert (Bob) W. Garrett was born November 9, 1943, in Kansas City, MO to Dale and
Anna Mae (McCulloch) Garrett.
He graduated from De Soto High School in 1962. On
September 21, 1964, he started work at Western Electric, it merged with AT&T / Lucent
Technologies in Merriam, KS. He spent 39 years with the company doing Quality Control.
Bob spent 20 years in the Volunteer fire & rescue service, the last 10 years as Fire Chief
for Monticello Fire District 1 Johnson County. He was President of the Johnson County
Fire Chiefs Association. He was on the Board of the Northwest Consolidated Fire District.
He served on the De Soto, KS Planning Commission. He belonged to the VFW Post 6654
Men's Auxiliary De Soto. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 407
Lenexa & The American Legion Riders & Kansas Patriot Guard. Bob served as Union
President of Local 6395.
He was a member of the Mill Creek Rifle Club & the NRA.
Bob was passionate about his Harley Davidson & Gold Wing Trike. He spent many
wonderful years at his lake house in the Ozarks, boating, kayaking & fishing. Also sailing
at Perry Lake. Bob was baptized by his brother Terry Garrett on Dec. 21, 1980, at Olathe
Christian Church.
Bob was a member of Lenexa Baptist Church.
He married Cheryl (Peek) Garrett on June 3, 1994.They had 30 years of wonderful
adventures.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl, son Robert (Sharon Blackburn) Scott Garrett, 2 Stepsons Scott (Annette) Satterfield & Eric (Samantha) Satterfield. Brother Terry (Marsha) Garrett. Sister Donna Roach. Grandchildren Vince (Tanna) Garrett, Amanda (Jonathan) Potter, Avery, Brityn & Dylan Satterfield. Four great grandchildren Kael & Drake Potter, Kodi & Wesson Garrett, and many other relatives. Bob was preceded in death by his father, mother & 2 great
grandchildren.
