Obituary for Robert L. Love
Robert L. (Bob) Love October 13,1919-March 7, 2015 Robert L. Love, 95, of Macon passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hillside Village of De Soto, Kansas with his daughter Karen by his side. Robert was born on October 13, 1919, near Keota, Missouri. Robert was the son of William and Alma Baker Love. They preceded him in death. A brother, Joseph Love of Mena, Arkansas also preceded him in death. Robert was married to Dorothy Alice Day Parris on December 22, 1946. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary December 22, 2010. Together they retired to Crossridge Farms and many years of enjoyment there. Dorothy passed away December 23, 2010 at their home in Macon, Missouri. Robert is survived by two children, Randall E. Love and his wife, Kay, of Dallas, Texas; Karen S. Love of Shawnee, Kansas; two grandchildren, Rachael Love and Caitlin Thrall; 1 great-grandson Judah, Sister-in-law Sybil Love of Mena, AR and several cousins and dear friends. Robert graduated from Bevier High school in 1937 and attended N.E. Mo. State Teachers College at Kirksville, MO., and was a rural school teacher in Macon County for three years. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, attained the rank of First Sergeant, served with the First Marine Air Wing and participated in campaigns in Solomon Islands and in the invasion and liberation of the Philippine Islands. After World War II, Robert attended Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Mo., and University of Missouri at Kansas City. He worked as an accountant in Kansas City from 1948 until his retirement in 1984. Robert was an active member of the First Christian Church of Macon. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, fishing, hunting, golf, and feeding the birds. Robert was a man of great faith. He always lived life to the fullest with a positive attitude and will be missed by all. Visitation March 12, 2015 from 6-8:00 PM at the Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel 32665 Lexington Ave. De Soto KS Burial Services will be held at: Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO at 1pm on Friday, March 13, 2015. Contributions can be made in Bob's honor to The Wildlife Federation or Wounded Warrior Project
