Obituary for Raymond H. Bjorgaard
Raymond H. Bjorgaard began a new journey to Heaven from his home in De Soto, Kansas on May 21, 2014. He was born in Argyle, Minnesota on June 7, 1934. Ray was the son of Oscar and Ethel Bjorgaard, who were potato farmers in the Red River Valley. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25th from 2-4PM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. Ray came to the KC area in the early 1950's and worked as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years. From there he worked for Alex R Masson Greenhouses as a maintenance supervisor. Upon retirement he farmed and sold his produce at the Shawnee Farmer's Market. Ray's favorite pastimes included working with horses, reading and he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop with his endless modifications of equipment. He is preceded in death by infant son John and daughters Melinda and Keely. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 47 years and his six children Mark Bjorgaard, Richard Bjorgaard, Craig Bjorgaard, Lori Lucht, Michelle Meyers and Melody Zumbrunn and 10 grandchildren. The family is grateful to the Hospice Advantage of Overland Park, KS for the last weeks of his life.
