Obituary for Michael Horniman
Michael Horniman, 64, of De Soto, KS passed away July 27th at his home. His ashes have been sent to Petoskey, MI for future memorial services. Memorial contributions can be made to University of Kansas Cancer Center, 12200 W 110th St., Overland Park, KS 66210. Michael was born January 5, 1950 in Petoskey, MI. He graduated high school in Petoskey, MI and then entered the U.S. Navy, serving 4 yrs. He received an Associated Degree in Civil Engineering from K-State in Salina, KS, as well as an Associates in Arts at Hutchinson Jr. College. Growing up loving everything to do with engines he enjoyed NASCAR and motorcycle races. Mike was a DIY guy and there was nothing he could not do or fix. He worked for Westar Energy for 34 years before he retired. His first love and loyalty was for his family. Mike was a lifetime member of the NRA. We would like to send a special thank you to KC Hospice for all they did. Preceded in death by father Melvin Horniman. Survivors include: wife Kathy of the home, mother Lila Horniman of Petoskey, MI, children Amy (David) Kranda of Brandon, MS, Paul (Melanie) Horniman of Opelika, AL, Andrew Horniman of Hutchinson, KS, sister Janet Joslin of Harbor Springs, MI, brothers George (Shelley) Horniman and Jerry Horniman both of Petoskey, MI, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles nieces and nephews.
