Obituary for Lorine Margot Scroggins

Lorine “Lori” Margot (Harrison) Scroggins of Cameron, Missouri formerly of De Soto, Kansas, age 87 entered Heaven into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 11, 2023. She was born a twin on Wednesday, January 29, 1936, to Lorin Elliott and Marjorie Katherine (Lyndoe) Harrison in Oak Park, IL.


Lori lived numerous places throughout her life, attending school in La Grange, IL and graduating from La Grange High School in 1954. Lori attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas for two years, marrying her college sweetheart Richard Terry Scroggins on September 7, 1957. Richard and Lori were blessed with four children, Kimberly Sue (Mark) Price, Stephen Craig (Valerie) Scroggins, Julie Lynn (Paul) Stanley and James Kevin (Lisa) Scroggins.


Lori enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, reading, flowers and being outside on a bright sunny day! While her children were growing up Lori served as a Girls in Action Leader, Girl Scouts Leader and AFS volunteer. Richard and Lori opened their home and hosted one AFS foreign exchange student, “Yupadee “Kyo” Kanjanarungsee.


Lori held several positions in her lifetime. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Ransom Memorial Hospital Administrator in Ottawa, KS, Ottawa University Alumni Office, Southeast Elementary School in Clinton, MO, First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO, 5th Street Baptist Church, Hannibal, MO, First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, OK and First Baptist Church, Longview, TX and retiring as Administrator of the Wee Learn Center in Longview, TX.


Lori was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Russell Harrison, parents and husband.


Lori is survived by her 8 grandchildren, Shelby (David) McVey, Rachel Stanley, Colby Scroggins, Alec Stanley, Olivia (Issac) Morrill, Logan Stanley, Benjamin Scroggins and Erin Scroggins, 2 great-granddaughters McKenzie and Katlyn McVey, 1 great-grandson Noah James Morrill and one twin sister, Lillian May (Bernie) Myers of Auburn, IN, many nieces, nephews and friends.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to De Soto Food Pantry or the charity of your choice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto, KS. Burial at De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS.
