Obituary for Lelani L. Taylor
Lelani L. Taylor (B.J.), 63, of De Soto, KS passed away on May 27, 2021. Christian burial services will be held June 4, 2021 at 3:00 PM with visitation beginning at 2:00 and Rosary at 2:45PM at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 21650 W 115Th Terr., Olathe, KS
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary of Hope, 2601 Ridge Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102 or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
Lelani was born July 23, 1957 in Lawrence, KS to Robert and Georgianna (Winslow) Taylor. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1975 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly after. Lelani served our country for over 13 years. While serving in Brawdy, Wales, she became the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the United Kingdom. Following her military service, she got her B.S. in Nursing and worked at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo in the NICU and PICU. She later transferred to Children's Mercy South in Overland Park, KS. Lelani enjoyed helping the children get well.
Lelani loved God, her family and her country. She was a dog owner all her life and leaves behind her dog Duke.
Preceded in death by : Parents Robert and Georgianna Taylor, brother Stuart Taylor and 2 great great nephews, Nicolas and Aaron.
Survivors include: brother John Taylor of Olathe, KS; sisters Sarita Taylor of Wellsville, KS and Alexanna (Danna) McCracken of De Soto, KS; her best friend Shirley (Thumper) Goodwin Thompson; 11 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew
