We are sad to announce the death of Kenneth Ray Tinberg of rural Linwood, Kansas. He died at age 92 on October 6th, 2022. Kenneth passed away at home surrounded by his wife of 67 years and his children.
Kenneth was born on February 7th, 1930 to Roy and Selma Tinberg in Bonner Springs, Kansas. He grew up on his parents’ farm with four brothers and one sister. He attended Bonner Springs High School graduating in 1948. He was an athlete there participating in football, basketball and track. He worked on the family farm after graduation. In November of 1953, Kenneth was drafted and served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. There he was trained as a track vehicle mechanic. On weekends, he enjoyed touring the countryside in Germany with his army buddies. Kenneth earned a national defense service medal, army of occupation medal and a good conduct medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955. In that same year, Kenneth married Patricia Mary Schutty of Liberty, Missouri. They established their current farm in 1957 where they raised four children. Kenneth was a man of all trades. Through the years he worked as a mechanic, excavator, farmer and trucker. He continued farming with his son Mark for nearly 35 years until his health prevented him from doing what he loved.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Selma, siblings, Richard, Bob, Don, Gene and Shirley.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children, Linda Freeman, Mark Tinberg (Tracy), Karen Rehm (David), and Stacey Schmitt (Tony). His 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren will miss him dearly. In his last days of life, Kenneth shared that his greatest joy was family. He will forever be remembered as a hardworking, honest, dedicated and giving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and man.
Kenneth’s friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate his life on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. and services from 11:30-12:30.
