1947 – 2024


Memorial services for Kenneth (Chief) Lee Cadue, 77, Bonner Springs, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in DeSoto, KS. (32665 Lexington Ave, DeSoto, KS)

The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest at a private burial with family at a later date.

Kenneth was born on April 17th, 1947 in Lawrence, Kansas to Calvin and Hazle Cadue. He passed away on November 5th, 2024 at Overland Park Regional Hospital surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his mother Hazle Cadue-Shaw, father Calvin Cadue, and two brothers, Gary and Larry Shaw.

Though he spent the later years of his life in Bonner Springs, Ken Grew up and raised his family in DeSoto, KS. He was a graduate of DeSoto High School.

Ken worked for Penners Cycle Barn for 16 years as a motorcycle mechanic, the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, the City of DeSoto, and later retired from Johnson County Wastewater.

Ken met his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Willis) Cadue, in October of 1967. They were married on October 10th, 1970 by Reverend Richard Copeland at the DeSoto Baptist Church. Bev survives of the home.

Ken is also survived by his two sons, Daren (Lisa) Cadue of Princeton, KS, and David (Jodi) Cadue of Parkville, MO; 6 grandchildren Mackenzie, Tanner, Billie Jean, Kori, Hunter, and Olivia; and 3 great grandchildren Niyah, Knox, and Eli.

Ken was a proud member of the Kickapoo Nation. His grandfather was the first Native American living on a reservation to receive social security and his story was told in Life Magazine. The Kickapoo are known for many things, mainly their hunting and gathering skills. Gifted with these skills, Ken was an avid outdoorsman who was exceptionally talented and bow hunting and fly-fishing spending countless hours in the wilderness.
