John was born in his grandparents home in Kansas City, KS to John and Phoebe (Doyle) Beery. He attended grade school in Argentine and graduated from Turner High School where he participated in football and basketball. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and Sinclair Refinery. August 8th, 1965 he married Loya Coker at the Argentine Methodist Church. He was then drafted into the Army where he became a Military Policeman. Upon returning home they moved to Olathe, where he was a patrolman for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. In the late 70's they returned to Kansas City, KS where he worked for the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department. After retiring as a fireman, he took up numerous hobbies trying his hand at crafting rock and cypress clocks, belt buckles and jewelry to sell at craft fairs. John had a passion for collecting everything from McDonald's Happy Meal toys to antique cars. His love of antique vehicles pulled him into purchasing and showing them at local shows. He also loved NASCAR and made several trips to Talladega. Travel was a high priority and he never turned down the opportunity to cruise to especially CA, AZ, CO or even an area fishing spot. He was always up for a trip to Branson to attend the attractions there. He purchased an RV last fall and along with Loya and his brother and sister-in-law took a bucket list trip to Phoenix to visit relatives and Padre Island to see the sandy beaches along the coastal line. With the help of family and friends and his scooter he was able to eat breakfast and visit with good people in De Soto nearly every day. At home he had joined the computer generation and loved game competition online with Facebook friends. He cherished all of his friends and family both new and old. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Phoebe, brother Francis (Franny) Beery, grandson James Bradley, brother-in-law Ron Hutchings and nephew Randy Beery.
