James “Jim” Berola age of 85 from Lenexa, Kansas passed on May 11th, 2026.a memorial service will be held June 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel 32665 Lexington Ave De Soto KS with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.
He was born to the late Joseph and Margaret Berola on April 16th, 1941, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Reba Berola on January 22nd, 1972, in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Jim was a veteran of the Marine Corps serving from 1962 to 1965 where he served in Okinawa and Vietnam. After his time in active duty, he traveled across the United States ending back in Pennsylvania where he would meet his wife Reba and find his career path of insurance auditing for Liberty Mutual, Reliance and General Casualty Insurance.
Jim was a quiet and reserved man who found great comforts in his dining room chair watching over his backyard gardens along with the animals and birds that would come visit. In his free time, he was a firearms enthusiast, music lover, photographer, and enjoyed dabbling in everything from woodworking to playing the ukulele.
In addition to his parents Jim is preceded in death by his sister Marjorie “Mitzi” Downs (Berola) and brother-in-law Terry Downs.
Jim’s memory lives on in his loved ones which include his wife of 54 years Reba of the home. Sons Joe and wife Katie grandchildren Harry and Lily of Overland Park, KS, Chris and wife Rayelle of Oregon, WI nephew Terry Downs of Pittsburgh, PA and numerous extended family members.
In lieu of flower the family asks for a donation to any local animal shelters, toys for tots or charity of your choice.
