Herbert "Herb" Wood, 84, of De Soto, KS passed away August 6, 2013. Visitation will be held on August 10th from 11:00-12:00pm at De Soto V.F.W., 33725 W. 84th St., De Soto, KS with Masonic services at 12:00pm and funeral service at 12:30pm at the V.F.W. Graveside service at Shawnee Memorial Gardens, Shawnee, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to V.F.W. Post #6654, P.O. Box 54, De Soto, KS 66018. Herb was born July 1, 1929. He was born and raised in the De Soto area. He was a WWII Veteran, Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and a member of De Soto V.F.W. #6654 and the Masonic Lodge #40. He was a jack of all trades and a master on none. Herb always had a good time and will be missed by all his extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by Wife Barbara and parents Herbert Sr. and Cecil Wood. Survivors include: Brother-in-law Ray (Alice) Wake of Independence, MO, 2 Nieces Barbara (Lawrence) Petermen of Independence, MO and Nicole (Steven) Shahan of Concordia, MO, 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
