Glenn Fredrick Malone, age 86, passed away December 1, 2023 at his home in Olathe, KS. Glenn was born May 18, 1937 in Lenape, KS, the son of John Fredrick Malone and Jessie Juanita Moxley.
Glenn grew up in the De Soto area and graduated from De Soto Rural High School in 1956. He ran track and held the record for the mile, he also played football. After high school he joined the Air Force reserves and served for eight years. He was a member of the American Legion in Olathe, KS. Throughout his years of employment, he worked for Sunflower Ammunition Plant, Ford Motor Company and was a painter. He had four children: Melody (Topeka, KS), Mitchael (Garnett, KS), Mickey and wife Traci (Edwardsville, KS), Martina and husband Mauricio (Stillwell, KS). He had eight grandchildren: Kristal, Laura, Shelby, Brandon, Jordan, Rifkin, Savannah, and Jaxon. He also had eight great grandchildren.
Glenn loved sports - his favorite teams were KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, St Louis Cardinals and the Denver Nuggets. He never missed a game if he could help it. He coached baseball in De Soto for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his dog Buddy. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, father and his brothers, Paul and John.
Glenn is survived by his sisters, Mary and Juanita.
Services, followed by a lunch reception, will be held at the American Legion in Olathe, KS on Sunday January 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
