Glenda was born to Floyd and Jackie (Logan) Birdsong on July 6, 1953 in Kansas City, KS. She was the oldest of 11 children and enjoyed caring for her younger siblings. Glenda was married to Paul Evan Barton for 25 years and together they had four children. As the family matriarch, Glenda also adopted and raised three of her grandchildren. In her retirement, Glenda moved to Northeastern Oklahoma to be closer to her siblings and Tribe.
Even though she left school after the 9th grade to help her family, Glenda completed her GED and attended Haskell Indian Nations University. She worked in several factories, including working as an embroidery operator at Gear for Sports for many years. She loved to embroider, crochet and sew and she passed these skills along to her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS, and most recently was a member of Faith Builders International Church in De Soto, KS. Glenda is most vividly remembered as a funny, loving, kind and genuine soul who touched many hearts.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Birdsong, brother Donald (Donnie) Birdsong, sister Geraldine (Breezy) Tehee, daughter Karla Barton, granddaughter Austina (Boogies) Barton, grandson Melvin Shamblin and one great-grandchild.
Glenda is survived by her sisters, Rhonda (Dude), Sharon (Katie), Katherine (Kathy), and Lisa; brothers Ronald (Ronnie), Thomas (Tom) and Lonnie (Lou); children Paul J. Barton, Kim E. Guyett and Kevin L. Barton; grandchildren John Secone, Desirae Upton, Tracee Barton, Andrea Wiglesworth, Lance Barton, Skyla Barton, Kaitlyn Donell, James Barton, Takoda Walker, Charles Smith, Kaylee Eulitt, Kriz Barton, Gage Delibro, Braiden Barton, Kai Delibro, Alyssa Delibro, Jozlyn Barton, Tyr Guyett, Cole Barton, Ruger Barton, and Cam Barton; 12 great-grandchildren (and more on the way!).
