Obituary for Esther Ella Cross
Esther Ella Cross, 93, of De Soto, KS passed away Nov 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held Dec 1, 2013 at 3:00pm with visitation from 2-3pm. Graveside services will be on Dec 2, 2013 at 1:00pm at Mt. Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery in Parsons, KS. Esther Cross, age 93, has resided in the De Soto area for 72 years. She spent the last 2 �_ years at Hillside Village of De Soto, where she dearly loved it. She entered rest November 25, 2013. Graveside services and burial will be at Mr. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons, KS on Monday, December 2nd at 1:00PM. Esther was born in Palco, KS on December 9, 1919. She was the 5th child of six children to Judson W. and Anna K. Cook. She was raised on the farm at Montana, Kansas until 20 years of age. The first of May 1943, she was among the first to be hired at the Sunflower Ordinance Plant when WWII began. After the war, she married Ralph W. Cross Jr. Esther was active in the community serving as Chairman of the American Cancer Society, Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Her hobbies were gardening, reading, sewing and embroidery and traveling. She loved making baby quilts and especially traveling with granddaughters. Her entire life revolved around her family. Esther worked at King Radio in Olathe for 15 years and retired in 1982. She was preceded in death by three brothers: an unnamed baby boy, Maynard Cook, and Paul Cook. Also two sisters: Nellie Goodsel and Mabel Tebbe. Survivors include three children: Larry and wife Sherry of Riley, KS, Kay Lynn and husband Max of Arkansas City, KS and Cynthia of Valley Falls, KS, five granddaughters: Dawn, Angela, Erika, LeAnn and Kelli, 12 great grandchildren: Joshua, Destiny, Eric, Kyle, Zachary, Annaliese, Ethan, Isaac, Erin, Dominick, Jodi and Clara and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
