Obituary for Eleanor F. Sandy
Eleanor Frances Sandy (Holm) passed peacefully on Sept. 21, 2019 at the age of 93 at Hillside Village of DeSoto, KS. She was born June 22, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo. and was the daughter of Francis & Audrey (Winn) Holm.
Sept. 29, 1950 she was married to Lynn C. Sandy and they had four children, Chuck, Nancy, Gail and Jim.
She lived her life in the Kansas City area. Her last 25 years were in the city of Olathe, KS near her family.
For her, life was about helping others and she made a career of that. After graduating from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri she attended nursing school at the Independence Sanitarium where she revieved her RN. She graduated in 1975 from Avila University with her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Choosing to work in the area of Obstetrics, she helped many people have a blessed beginning to their family.
Her Christian faith was strong and she attended Central, Mission Road and Lenexa Community of Christ Church.
She hosted many students from abroad in her home through the years and helped them experience American living.
Saturday night meals of hamburgers and fries were common and brought many kids together to share.
She loved her family, playing cards with friends, singing in the choir, and helping at many church camps.
Our mom was mom to many! She was loved and we were blessed to call her our mom.
She is preceeded in death by Lynn C. Sandy, son James Sandy and leaves behind, brother Bill Holm, spouse Judy, son Chuck Sandy, spouse Linda Sandy, daughter Nancy (Sandy) VanHoose, spouse Rick VanHoose, daughter Gail (Sandy) Bartley, spouse Don Bartley, grandchildren: Brad VanHoose (spouse Steph), Lori VanHoose (spouse David), Brent Benson, Kevin Benson, Drew Benson (spouse Shauna), Patrick Sandy (spouse Jessica), Seth Sandy and Alexis (Sandy) Casey (spouse Derek), Erin (Bartley) Ragner, Matt Bartley (spouse Amie) & also 13 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life is planned for Oct. 5, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Lenexa Community of Christ Church located at 17620 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS 66219 (phone # 913-492-8116)
