Obituary for Dorothy Alberta Rejmontowski Pflaum
Dorothy Alberta Rejmontowski Pflaum, 83, of De Soto, KS passed away peacefully on March 11, 2019 after a long struggle of heart failure. She was surrounded by her family at Villa St Francis of Olathe.
Dorothy A. Pflaum was born on May 2nd, 1935 at The Methodist Episcopal Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the loving parents of Stan Rejmontowski and Josephine Orel. She was one of 3 siblings, Stella her oldest sister and Joe her youngest brother. While growing up in Brooklyn she made many friends, like Cookie and Janet, whom she hung out with and also worked with in the toy factory, which was her first job. It was Halloween night, while hanging with friends, she meets a man named George Pflaum and it was love at first sight and they started dating after that night. After 6 months of dating he asked her father for his hand in marriage and he said yes. On February 9th, 1957 they married and become the Pflaum’s. She took his last name of Pflaum and started a family, they had 4 children in the order of George Jr., Michael, Dennis, and James. After 20 years of raising her children, in 1978 she decided to move to Monrovia, CA where her sister had moved to a few years before. In 1998 her husband suffered a mild stroke and she also got news that one of her sons, Dennis, started a family in Kansas. In no easy feat, she moved to De Soto, KS where her son lived and started a new page in her life with her new grandkids. She still continued to have a long-distance relationship with her sister Stella, who still resides in California.
Dorothy always had spunk for longevity and the understanding and commitment of family. With her Brooklyn accent, most notably in conversation, it became her threshold and popularity of those who greeted her. She expressed to the family, her appreciation for all of those persons that attended to her needs. She wanted to let them know a special "thank you" from her heart to theirs.
Dorothy Pflaum is survived by her sons Dennis and James Pflaum; grandsons Clayton, Cameron, Cooper and Michael Pflaum ; granddaughter Anastasia Pflaum; great grandchildren Quilla, Journey and Arial Pflaum.
