Don was born August 18, 1920 in Blue Springs, MO. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1939. Uncle Sam began drafting young men for military service as World War II was about to get underway. On December 7, 1941, WWII officially began. Four months later Don was proud to be sworn into the United States Naval Reserves. Upon his honorable discharge, he embarked on a 35 year career at Southwestern Bell in July 1947. He also enlisted in the US Marine Corp Reserves. During this time, as Dad liked to say, the Lord and his friend, Jim, introduced him to the girl of his dreams, Betty Jean Gulley. They married on October 21, 1949. Their marriage thrived over 68 years and was blessed with 3 children.

Don was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Grace (Parker) Parr and his brother, James Parr.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Betty, of the home; daughters Pam (Rocky) Hughes and Patti (Rick) Hollingsworth, both of De Soto; son Don Jr. (Vicky) Parr of De Soto; grandchildren: Joe Moore, Lindsey Cirrintano, Tricia Quisenberry, Traci Simpson, Donny Parr III, Emily Parr, Sadie Parr, Sachie Parr and 17 great-grandchildren.

Don was a Godly man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend to everyone he met, a great storyteller and loved to share his life adventures. He was extremely proud of his family and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
