B. Dale ("Pop") Cannell was born February 6, 1941 in Moberly, Missouri to Merle and Edward Cannell. Gifted with orneriness from birth, Dale spent much of his childhood being up to no good with his brother, George. On June 20, 1964, he married Sandra Periman and was happily married for 56 years. Dale was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Sheet Metal Workers – Local Union 2 (50 years), Scottish Rite, Masonry and a devout member of the De Soto Baptist Church.
Also an entrepreneur, Dale and Sandy owned Cannelli's Pizza in De Soto for many years. Dale’s friendliness, warmth and compassion were always present and took on many forms: he could always be counted on to make a batch of his famous chocolate chip cookies and homemade chicken and noodles. Dale was a dedicated baseball and softball coach for his daughter, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and was always willing to assist anybody looking for help. Being a devoted Jayhawk, Dale never missed a chance to display his "Jayhawker" in the window for a KU Basketball game.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Edward; brothers Charles, Edward, Bruce, and George; and sister Wilma.
He is survived by his wife Sandy; daughter Jackie; grandchildren Brady and Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.
And he never told a lie - just told stories “three or four different ways”.
