Clifton S. Gillespie 73 of Blue Mound, KS passed July 28, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be held Aug. 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning an hour prior at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel 32665 Lexington Ave. De Soto, KS Burial Union Cemetery, Shawnee Mission, KS burial immediately following at Union Cemetery, Shawnee, KS
Clifton was born November 11, 1951, in Columbiana County, Ohio to Clifton H. and Gertrude (Smith) Gillespie.
He graduated from De Soto High School 1969. Soon after he entered the US Army and serviced our county with 2 tours in Vietnam and Germany receiving the Army Commendation Medal near Bien Hoa, Vietnam for meritorious service. It was a honor to serve our country.
Clifton enjoyed his yard he had to have it perfect, it was a priority. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Under the rough exterior was the most loving and caring man. He was always there to help doing most of it anonymously. The caring hands that was always open to helping people. He was a member of Hope Chapel in Maron, KS.
Preceded in death by: Parents, brother Burl Gillespie, sisters Aloma Sterling and Yvonne Lance.
Survivors: Sons Christopher Gillespie of Lawrence, KS. Billy Gillespie of Duncan, OK. Joshua Smith of Springhill, KS.
Sisters Deloris (Roy) Kieffaber of Blue Mound, KS and
Dawn Vinson of Kearney, MO. 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
