Obituary for Charles S Oswalt
Charles S. Oswalt, 84, of De Soto, KS passed away February 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held February 26, 2016 at 10:00AM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. Visitation will be on February 25, 2016 from 6-8:00 PM with Masonic services at 7:30PM at the Chapel. Graveside following at Mt. Moriah Cemetery KCMO.
Charles was born May 7, 1931 in Starkville, MS to Charlie and Hattie Sanders Oswalt. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War and he also served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1987 he retired as Captain with Johnson County Fire District #2. He was active in the Masonic Lodge #40 of De Soto and Scottish Rite of Lawrence, KS. Charles built homes and did remodeling for many years. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; son Paul Oswalt; brother Otis Oswalt and sisters Catherine Oswalt and Christine Bush. Survivors include: wife Saleeta of the home; son Michael (Julie) Oswalt of Camdenton, MO; daughter Alaine Knoll of De Soto, KS; former daughter-in-law Virginia Roberts; grandchildren Scott (Brandi) Oswalt of Newton, KS, Brian (Rachel) Oswalt of Overland Park, KS, Crystal Oswalt of Kansas City, MO, Lacy (Bret) Harvel of Kansas City, MO, Sara (Steve Ricketts) Oswalt of Kansas City, MO, Marissa (Scott) Riojas of De Soto, KS, Jordan Knoll of Overland Park, KS and Lexi Hullopeter of Mound City, KS; great grandchildren Emerson, Lennon, Grayden, Sunnye and Jude Oswalt, Sierra, Taja and Josh Shaw, Ellie Harvel, Colton Ricketts and Harper Riojas; sisters Mildred Bailey of Oakland, MS, Loyce (Howard) Fugitt, Lurline (Arthur) Myers and brother James Oswalt all of Overland Park, KS; brother Bill Oswalt of Wichita, KS and many nieces and nephews.
