Obituary for Barbara K. McClellan
Barbara K. McClellan,79, of De Soto, KS passed away on April 26, 2019 in her home surrounded by family. There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 1, 2019 at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Barbara will be buried in De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS at a later date.
Barbara was born December 28, 1939 in Muncie, Kansas to J D Garner and Hazel Funk Schafer. Barbara graduated from Turner High School in 1957 where she met Jerry McClellan. They were married on December 26, 1956 in Muncie, Kansas. Jerry was in the Navy and they lived in various places on the east coast. After the service, they moved to the De Soto area to raise their family. She worked at Hercules Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in the 60's and again in the 70's and 80's.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and great great grandma. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family laughing, singing and playing games. She and Jerry served as Deacon and deaconess at the Church of God Worldwide Association.
Preceded in death by: parents J D Garner and Hazel Funk Schafer and son Timothy E. McClellan.
Survivors include: husband Jerry of the home; children Cameron (James) Lorenz of De Soto, KS, Mitchell McClellan of Eudora, KS, Karen (Eric) Herndon of Olathe, KS and Patrick (Amy) McClellan of Wellsville, KS; grandchildren Douglas, Mindy, Flint, Lydia, Erica, Jeremy, Sarah, Jessie and Ailie; twenty great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sisters Joanne Smith of San Diego, CA and Georgia Yount of DeSoto, KS; brothers Floyd Garner of Kansas City, KS, Jack Garner and Rex Garner both of Seymour, MO.
